Heraklion has one foot firmly rooted in its rich history while the other is striding confidently into the future, especially as the city is both the capital and the commercial and technological centre of Crete. The last few years Heraklion has made major progress in academic and technological fields. The Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Heraklion, and Research and Science Institutes such as FORTH, ENISA, and HCMR, the University of Crete and Technological Education Institute of Crete will all be involved in hosting the event and are looking forward to welcoming the 250 participants.
This year's Annual Partnering Event will be the official launch event for, and the introduction of, the second phase of the Europe INNOVA initiative, based on a renewed approach. The new set of Europe INNOVA actions are based on European Innovation Platforms in the three high priority policy areas of transnational cluster cooperation, knowledge-intensive services and eco-innovation. In parallel to these actions, the Commission has reinforced the Sectoral Innovation Watch with a foresight dimension and decided to continue the IMP3rove project.
On top of that, this Annual Partnering Event will also kick-off the new projects that have been selected for Europe INNOVA phase 2. These projects or networks will have the chance to launch their activities in Crete, and also to explain their hopes and expectations to the Europe INNOVA community. So, they are warmly invited to make use of this opportunity and to contact Agis Evrigenis at email@example.com, and he will assist them in terms of arranging rooms and technical support for whatever meetings or functions they would like to organise in Crete.
At the same time, each network or project will be personally invited to participate in two specially organised sessions. The first one will be dedicated to the topic of project management, whilst the second will focus on aspects of communication and the use of the Europe INNOVA platform and its tools. In the communication session, time will be dedicated to an explanation of the new Europe INNOVA portal interface and its additional features.
The event will be an opportunity for the Europe INNOVA and PRO INNO Europe networks to come together, exchange information and discuss the latest developments in innovation within the EU. Annual Partnering Events during the first phase of the initiative have proved to be virtual hotspots for innovation support practitioners to network, learn about the latest developments in innovation and exchange information with their peers.
The attraction of the venue is very evident and the official event programme will be complemented by stimulating welcome receptions, exciting gala dinners and interesting innovation tours to, for example, Thalassokosmos, which is the largest research, technology and entertainment centre in the Mediterranean.
For now, please mark the dates of the Annual Partnering Event in your diary. All the details about registration and accommodation and, of course, the programme will be published on the Europe INNOVA website, during July.
